What a Year It's Been For The Kano Foundation!

It was absolutely incredible to kick the season off with a return to Celtic Park after too many long months at home. There were times when we wondered if we’d ever get back into Paradise but watching the kids’ faces on that first trial game back made it all worth it.

The Bhoys may have had a rocky start to the season but that didn’t stop The Kano Kids from cheering them on in their usual style. By September, we had a full contingent back and with Brian leading the singing, it really felt like we’d never been away.

The first full game back was particularly special though, as we also welcomed our 11,000th kid, Edanne, into the stadium. When we started The Kano Foundation over a decade ago, we never imagined a milestone like this could have been possible.

9 year old Edanne from Dennistoun had a great day, meeting actor Gianni Capaldi, who came all the way from the USA, and receiving his “11,000th Kano Child” scarf. Gianni was delighted to meet this special kid and one fan even commented “it looks like Gianni asked the wee man for a photo!”

Thankfully, the results on the pitch soon picked up and really gave the Kanos and Kanettes something to cheer about. When Celtic beat St Johnstone in October 2021, one Kano Kid said it was “the best day of my life”. What football can do eh!

We made it through a particularly cold and wet winter and in February we welcomed our 12,000th child to Celtic Park. Jaiden was lucky enough to take part in the half time draw and our amazing volunteers made sure he and the rest of the kids had a really special afternoon.

They even made it onto the big screen at Celtic Park – which of course brought the biggest cheer of the day!

These milestones are absolutely huge and many of these kids would never have made it Celtic Park otherwise. And it’s all down to the people who have donated to The Kano Foundation, attended golf days, came to our dances, or helped out at the games.

Thank you all from The Kano Foundation and The Kano Kids.
